Those crazy Christians...

OK. I'm a bit disturbed by a thread I've seen as I've watched TV this week. Thursday night on Law and Order CI, an abortion doctor was killed by a psycho Christian with inside information and good aim. The Lord apparently spoke to him and told him that he was saving countless lives by shooting a man in front of his 5-year-old daughter.

Last night, same show (rerun on USA), a religious mother builds a car bomb in an attempt to kill herself and her four children. She tells her son it is the hard road to heaven. She and her oldest son survive and she goes to jail.

So I stay up way to late and watch the Soup's year and review (I find Joel McHale very amusing, I admit). Of course among the top clips from 2005 we find the crazy Christian lady from Wife Swap who screams, commands everyone to leave in Jesus' name and attempts to tear up the check from the show (which she later decides to keep). She rants and raves from behind her tooth about how demonic and horrible everything is.

My question is this -- is this the way the majority of Christians are viewed by the general public or are these examples just picked because they make more interesting television?

I vote that they were just picked to spice up the TV shows and news. Surely it is well known that the majority of Christiams are sane. (I know I am - no comments please!)

I saw that crazy lady and felt she must have been possessed by the devil. Everyone else on the show seemed quite normal. I also felt sorry for her daughter, who looked quite distraught over the fact that her mom went insane.

But, I would like to end on a happy note. Her tooth was nice.

Yes, it was very sparkly and bright. Hypnotizing, almost.

I wish I had a tooth that was that sparkly and bright....but then again. I would look weird with one extra shiny tooth and the rest being normal.

Hmm...

I'll have to think on that some more...

You could always get one of those nifty gold teeth or one with a rhinestone on it. That is SO Sweet Adelines!

That is definately something to think about. I like the Sweet Adelines twist you'd put in, I'll think about getting one for contest.

If you do it, the whole quartet has to, so you have that "unit look."

yeah, we'll discuss that at our next rehearsal. i don't think it will be a problem though

Back to your post, I think both your posits are true; The wacko-Christians tend to get a lot of press, which leads people to the conclusion that that's how Christians are, which creates interest in seeing more wacko-christians, etc. A vicious bicycle.

At least her hair wasn't pink.
